If you’re ready to take your academics to the next level, you’ve come to the right place. Virginia Western Community College Transfer students admitted to Hollins will receive a minimum $20,000 guaranteed scholarship to help take the next steps towards a bachelor’s degree.

Apply in three easy steps:

1. Complete a free Hollins application for admission.
2. Submit an official or unofficial transcript from every high school and college you attended to transfer@hollins.edu.
3. Submit a letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your academic work to transfer@hollins.edu.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

February 1: Preferred deadline for students applying to transfer for fall term
November 15: Preferred deadline for students applying to transfer for spring term

Admission REquirements

  • Virginia Western Community College (VWCC) students graduating from transfer-oriented degree programs with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a four-point scale are guaranteed admission.

Transfer Credit

  • A Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) provides personalized information regarding the transfer of your credits to Hollins University. To receive a TCE, submit an official or unofficial college transcript(s) to transfer@hollins.edu.
  • VWCC students graduating from qualifying AA and AS programs on or after fall 2021 arrive to Hollins with general education requirements fulfilled.
  • A maximum of 64 credits may transfer from VCCS to Hollins. Students will receive credit for transferrable VCCS classes in which they earned a grade of C or higher. To view the full list of transferrable VCCS classes, students may consult our Transfer Guide.

Will my credits transfer over?

Hollins University accepts up to 64 credits for students transferring from a Virginia community college. To learn which of your credits will transfer, e-mail a copy of your official or unofficial college transcript to transfer@hollins.edu to receive a personalized Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE). Admitted students from a VCCS school who have completed a qualifying associate’s degree will arrive at Hollins with their general education requirements fulfilled.

Are there scholarships available for transfer students?

Yes! All admitted transfer students receive at least $20,000 in guaranteed scholarship each year. There are also transfer scholarships and grants available for students who earn their associate degree from a VCCS school before transferring, live in Virginia, or are members of Phi Theta Kappa.

Can I visit campus?

What is the GPA requirement for admission?

Students from a VCCS school who earn a transferrable associate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or above are guaranteed admission to Hollins University. Students who have not earned their associate degree are still encouraged to maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.

How do I apply?

Transfer students can apply for free on the Hollins University website. In addition to the online application, please send copies of your transcripts (official or unofficial) from high school and any college you have attended to our office, or you can e-mail them to transfer@hollins.edu. Once you complete an application. you will receive an admission decision within two weeks.
